Pat yourselves on the backs, Pokemon GO players, because your devotion to the game has helped save a struggling ice cream shop from closing permanently.

After Yelp updated its search features to include a Poke-stop filter, it became clear that Pokemon GO was a game with a lot of power -- and we bet nobody is willing to testify on its behalf more than Gary Dear, the owner of Mad Hatter’s Ice Cream in Anacortes, Washington.

According to KING, players from miles around have been flocking to Dear’s ice cream shop for a frozen treat, due to its close proximity to several Poke-stops.

"Never in my wildest dreams did I ever expected it to end up like this," Dear said. "I've never seen anything take off like this.”

Ever since Dear opened his store, he’s faced a number of issues: In fact, his financial struggles were so prominent that he was even forced to close his doors temporarily as he recovered from an illness connected to his time spent in the Navy.

Pokemon GO to the rescue! Two weeks after Dear reopened to the public, the game took off -- now, Dear estimates his ice cream sales as having doubled and even tripled on select nights; he has also been able to add more employees, and extend his open hours.

"The Pokey light shines down on me!" he joked to KING -- and fans of both the game and Dear’s ice cream agree.

"It was a shame to see him close up shop. We're glad he's back," said Rick Miller, who is playing the game with his daughter. "Some people are very frustrated with Pokemon GO; he loves it.”
