Some nights, you could use a bottle of booze, but it's just too much trouble to pick one up. Maybe the closest liquor retailer is too far away to hoof it, and you and/or your guests are all a little buzzed and nobody is good to drive.
Or maybe you need to bring wine for a get-together ... But you just don't have the time to dash out and pick up a bottle, because you procrastinated getting ready until the last minute and you're running late.
And sometimes, the thought of putting on pants is just too daunting and utterly not worth it.
If you've never been in any of these situations before, congratulations! You are probably an impeccably polished, organized individual, and I take my slightly dirty, mismatched hat off to you.
For the rest of you, don't worry! There is hope, and it is here in the form of Amazon Prime Now, the online delivery service that brings groceries, home supplies and other needful things in a flash -- a godsend for the lazy.
If you're privileged enough to live in a major U.S. city, there's a good chance that the delivery service is available to bring you booze. And we can only hope Amazon keeps expanding this, because it looks awesome.
Here are the places that are offering the booze delivery service, as an Amazon representative told Food and Wine:
- Columbus, Ohio
- Los Angeles
- New York
- Portland, Oregon
- Richmond, Virginia
- San Diego
- San Francisco Bay Area
If you live in one of these cities, you can get beer, wine and/or spirits (depending on your location) delivered in two hours. Or if you are pressed for time and want to pay an extra $7.99, you'll get it in just 60 minutes -- just in time for that heaping box of nachos you're about to cave in and order.
You'll need to be 21 or over to use this service, though. As noted in a disclaimer on their website, Prime Now requires a valid ID, and whoever makes the delivery will check your card when you open the door to receive your precious bottle of Whatever.
