Ice cream giant Ben & Jerry's is on the upswing with ice cream flavors this year.
Now serving vegans and "pint slices," these two ice cream moguls are winding up for another game changer: "Topped" ice cream. Ice cream pints with a chocolate or white chocolate layer fondant on top.
Imagine someone in Ben & Jerry's Flavoring Lab asking, "How do we top all these ice cream flavors? It's all been done before." Some genius replies, "Let's literally top it." Thus, the "Topped" ice cream is born.
Ben & Jerry's Topped first hit stores in U.K., but Brand Eating reports that these new flavors may traverse across seas to the U.S. So what does the U.K. have that the U.S. doesn't (yet)?
Salted Caramel Brownie, Strawberry Swirled, and Chocolate Caramel Cookie Dough to name a few. These are the cream of the crop (or cream of the top!). Fans of Nutella will want to direct their attention to the Cookie Dough flavor, covered with a cocoa-hazelnut fondant and of course, cocoa nuggets for an extra decadent treat.
The Strawberry Swirled flavor brings back memories of hot days chasing the sound of the ice cream truck down the street. The best ice cream choice (and the only "real" choice) was the strawberry shortcake ice cream bar! Few things make me feel as nostalgic as that bright, tart and perfectly melted treat on a stick. Ben & Jerry's Strawberry Swirled flavor is a delicious twist on the classic, with marshmallow and strawberry sauces, crunchy shortbread cookie pieces, and topped with white chocolate fondant and milk nuggets.
Finally, the classic made fancy: vanilla ice cream, salted caramel and brownie pieces topped with cocoa-hazelnut fondant and cocoa nuggets. The Salted Caramel Brownie will be the first on my list of flavors to try.
And if these flavors have you already booking your next flight out to London, make sure to try these other flavors only available in the U.K. The Satisfy My Bowl flavor, a special edition flavor commemorating Bob Marley's 30th Anniversary Legend album, and the Minter Wonderland flavor, with peppermint and chocolate chunks, are only available in the U.K.
Local or international, I'll settle for any Ben & Jerry's flavor!
