Ben & Jerry's, that Vermont ice cream company that makes all the best kinds (maybe I'm biased), always likes to keep things new and fun for us ice cream lovers, by bringing out limited edition flavors each season.
The newest endeavor is a Chocolate Cherry Garcia flavor. The classic favorite has taken on a chocolate spin that I can’t wait to get my hands on. Everything’s better with chocolate, and I always thought that’s what was missing in my Cherry Garcia. According to Brand Eating, the cherry ice cream traditionally used is replaced with chocolate for this limited-time treat, and it’s available nationwide in Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shops, but not yet in grocery stores.
They’ve also done flavor flips with their Chubby Hubby and Half Baked, but if you’re looking for something completely new, they’ve got that too! Try the Brownie Batter Core, with chocolate and vanilla ice cream and a brownie batter core, or their Coconuts for Caramel Core, with caramel and sweet cream ice cream and, you guessed it, a caramel core. They’re also reporting a new line of non-dairy flavors for those of us who want to partake in the desserts, but can’t tolerate lactose. Good thinking!
Many of the non-dairy flavors consist of classic favorites such as Chunky Monkey, Chocolate Fudge Brownie (my favorite!) and Coffee Caramel Fudge. I’m sure soon enough there will be a much bigger non-dairy selection, just as they’re coming up with Greek yogurt selections for the more health-conscious buyers. If you’re interested in what’s being offered in the Greek yogurt category, consider trying the Banana Peanut Butter Greek Yogurt, Raspberry Fudge Chunk Greek Yogurt or the Peach Melba Greek Yogurt. All of which offer a lower-calorie option for your dessert needs.
Finally, in the spirit of the season, you won’t want to miss out on the Pumpkin Cheesecake flavor, featuring pumpkin cheesecake ice cream and a graham cracker swirl. It offers a nice little twist on the normal pumpkin spice we’re always seeing. As for me, the Chocolate Cherry Garcia is calling my name.
