Ben & Jerry's has come out with two new flavors, and they're vegan-friendly! How are they vegan? Almond milk, of course.
Metro UK reports that, though Ben & Jerry's hasn't officially announced their new vegan flavors, they can be seen popping up in stores already. The two that have been spotted so far are Cherry Garcia and Coconut Seven Layer Bar. Both are nondairy, and, as I said before, made with almond milk.
The Cherry Garcia is a flavor most of us already know and love. It consists of cherry ice cream with cherries and fudge flakes. The Coconut Seven Layer Bar, however, is something new. It is made up of coconut ice cream with fudge chunks, walnuts and graham cracker and caramel swirls. Sounds delish!
Ben & Jerry's launched four new vegan flavors already, two of which were nondairy versions of our flavor faves -- Chocolate Fudge Brownie and Chunky Monkey. The other two are also new: P.B. & Cookies and Coffee Caramel Fudge.
Chunky Monkey's flavor is vegan in that it's made with almond milk and other certified vegan ingredients. Chocolate Fudge Brownie is made with almond milk and vegan brownies (I'm not sure what those were made with instead, but they're certified vegan and probably tasty so it's all right).
P.B. & Cookies features vanilla ice cream with chocolate cookies and a peanut butter swirl. Coffee Caramel Fudge consists of coffee-flavored ice cream with fudge chunks and caramel swirls. Vegans can finally rejoice in that they are getting some fun new Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavors. I can't imagine how frustrating it's probably been to keep from partaking all this time. However, these flavors can be helpful to more than just the vegan audience. Many of today's adults are lactose intolerant, so they can now finally indulge in some sweet flavors they've probably also spent a lot of time drooling over. Everybody wins!
I wonder if these almond milk flavors taste as good as the regular kinds? There's only one way to find out! Time to start taste-testing ice cream.
