If you are not already a fan of Dim Sum, prepare to become one.
Shanghai's Disney Resort is now selling movie-themed Dim Sum, and the world will never be the same again.
According to Hello Giggles, all of your favorite Dim Sum dishes, from dumplings to Baozi are now available in the shape of your most beloved Disney characters. Photos from the Resort are as adorable as you might imagine, and include favorites such as Chicken Little and Frozen’s Olaf the Snowman.
That’s right—you can now get Frozen-themed Dim Sum.
If you’re curious as to how the resort is able to craft such beautiful creations out of edible items, the clue might lie in the nature of Dim Sum itself. The Cantonese cuisine is famous for its gorgeous arrays of intricately crafted bite-sized dishes, all meticulously arranged in steamer baskets.
As you can tell from the photos, some aspects of traditional Dim Sum have been preserved in the Disney Resort’s unique take on the cuisine. Not only are the characters arranged in steamer baskets, but Olaf’s head is also apparently crafted out of a white steamed red bean bun—a standard flavor combination in Dim Sum restaurants.
While booking a trip to Shanghai to sample the Dim Sum for yourself might be out of the question, we suggest that you gaze at the gorgeous photos before heading to a local restaurant in order to sample some more average-looking Dim Sum. We promise that the food is utterly delicious, and the experience will be one to remember!
If you do go, expect an array of individual-sized dishes (like Chinese tapas) presented on an ever-changing array of carts and trays. In China, Dim Sum is traditionally served in the morning, but U.S. restaurants typically serve the cuisine around brunch time. We can’t imagine a better way to celebrate the long weekend in style!
