You already know the results are going to be top-notch when Dunkin' Donuts announces that its new seasonal donuts were inspired by Christmas cookies. Coffee-and-donut purveyor delivering the holiday spirit by way of fried-dough confections smothered in sugar and gingerbread cookies -- what did we do to deserve this holiday miracle?
It seems Dunkin' put everyone on the nice list because the donut chain unwrapped two new flavors: Frosted Sugar and Gingerbread Cookie, along with the returning Snowflake Sprinkle Donut and Munchkins donut hole treats covered in sprinkles and the brand's chocolate glaze.
You might be tempted to forego Christmas baking altogether this year. Dunkin's Frosted Sugar Cookie Donut features a super-sweet frosted donut with a cookie dough-flavored filling, topped with crumbled frosted sugar cookies. The new Gingerbread Cookie Donut is a caramel-frosted donut topped with crumbled gingerbread cookies. Is there a need to bake holiday cookies when Dunkin' can fire up a dozen or so of these beauties?
Also returning are Dunkin' Donuts' popular Peppermint Mocha and Brown Sugar Cinnamon-flavored coffee beverages to warm you in between sips across a garland-strewn hearth (consider it a coffee break from detangling yards of Christmas lights, yucky wintery mixes, and the god-awful sound of another Christmas ornament shattered).
Christmas comes but once a year and we've made a list, checked it twice, and you've been nice, so treat yourself (including family and loved ones, but mostly, treat yourself).
Seasonal coffees, new donuts, and new festively designed packaging! The donut chain's simply-designed coffee cups feature the word "Joy" to kick off the holiday cheer and good tidings. Classic holiday motifs like snowflakes, holiday trees, holly leaves and peppermints are peppered around the cup in festive red, green and white colors.
Getting into the spirit of Christmas, Dunkin' Donuts will be offering free donuts on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, to anyone with a military I.D. The donut chain is also making a $10,000 donation to Homes For Our Troops, giving a year's worth of Dunkin' Donuts K-Cup pods and new Keurig Brewing Systems to up to 100 veterans who have received custom-made homes provided by the nonprofit organization.
