Fans of the New England Patriots, and particularly of Tom Brady, have a new and interesting opportunity, because the famous football player has partnered up with the meal subscription service Purple Carrot to bring you something called TB12 Performance Meals.
Essentially, Purple Carrot is offering a set of meals developed in partnership with Tom Brady and TB12 to help aspiring athletes (who may have little time to conceptualize their own dishes) eat a variety of high protein, gluten-free and 100 percent plant-based meals that are supposed to help them perform at their most optimal levels.
For $78 a week, you can receive three of these meals per week, with two servings of every meal. That comes out to about $13 per plate.
None of the meals will contain recipes with dairy, eggs, seafood, processed foods or meat, which means that committing to this meal plan will have you following a vegan diet. So, in addition to eating like Brady, you'll also be eating compassionately, and no animals will be harmed in the process of nourishing yourself. Plus, a vegan diet is really great for the environment!
"Eating meals just like the ones we'll send out to our customers has really helped me stay at the top of my game," Brady said in a statement, according to ESPN.
Purple Carrot founder and CEO, Andy Levitt, is also excited about the partnership.
"There's an importance in authenticity here," he said, per ESPN. "Every meal that is designed is approved by Tom and his team, and Tom will get a box of meals to his home that is exactly what the people who order his meals get."
A sample menu according to the Purple Carrot website would include dishes like a white lentil risotto with winter roasted vegetables, Meyer lemon and a cashew gremolata; a ramen bowl with charred broccolini and gingered amaranth greens; and crispy turnip cakes with quinoa tabbouleh and za'atar yogurt.
