By Yasmine Cardenas This bucket of fried chicken will not be making an appearance at the dinner table. Instead, this fried chicken is best kept in the freezer. This savory meat isn’t meat at all. You’ll be pleasantly surprised and humored when you bite into this “Not Fried Chicken” ice cream bar. Yes, I said ice cream bar. The “Not Fried Chicken” resembles a fried chicken drumstick. It’s honestly genius. The mastermind behind this creation is pastry chef Cynthia Wong. Wong is a six-time finalist for the James Beard Awards’ Outstanding Pastry Chef. He has turned her attention to Life Raft Treats, a chef-driven artisan ice-cream truck based in Charleston, South Carolina. Wong is reinventing favorite childhood treats with a twist of humor. “Not Fried Chicken” contains a chocolate-covered cookie “bone” and a coating of caramelized white chocolate and crushed corn flakes to resemble that crispy golden exterior of fried chicken. Wong uses high-quality locally sourced dairy products, eggs, and other ingredients in her ice cream. Many people on Facebook and Twitter had a lot to say about the fried chicken ice cream bar. Users came with the usual barrage of jokes and criticism. One Facebook user commented, “This seems so wrong and so appetizing at the same time.” [embed]https://twitter.com/she_nicee/status/1364564576335986693?s=20[/embed] A Twitter user said, “Imagine somebody comes home with a bucket of chicken and it melts.” Another user commented, “If I bite into some chicken and ice cream comes out, everybody involved has to fight me.” The ice cream bars are available in a 9 pc. bucket for $99 or a jumbo 20 pc. bucket for $149. Both options are available for nationwide shipping through goldbelly.com. Make this fried chicken a part of your dinner rotation, for dessert of course! We promise you it doesn’t taste like fried chicken. Enjoy it!
