Martha Stewart is expanding her brand to include a chain of cafes, and we're pretty sure that the Martha Stewart Café is going to be an instant hit.
According to Eater, she opened her first café in 2015 within the lobby of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia in Manhattan. Since then, two new locations have been confirmed. One has already opened, and resides within a Macy’s in a Sacramento mall. The next will open in Dallas in November.
These cafes will be more like little kiosks, and will likely be competing with Starbucks for the space. Macy’s has partnered up with Stewart, however, to have her cafes in-store, right next to the home goods section that features all of her linens and cookery.
While her coffee and tea come from her very own line, her pastries come from Bien Cuit in Brooklyn and Balthazar in Soho. As these are local bakeries, it makes sense to suspect that the other cafes Stewart is opening will also be bringing in pastries from local bakeries as well.
Also available will be her line of granola, including Almond and Golden Raisin, Sour Cherry and Walnut, and Apricot and Sesame Seed flavors.
According to Eater New York, the Martha Stewart Café currently operating in the Manhattan neighborhood of Chelsea is open only on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. So it might be a bit difficult to get in there and sample some of the coffee or the sweets if you’re working a regular 9-5, as most of us do.
It’s probably safe to assume that the other bakeries in the new chain will have the same hours, but I imagine they might be expanded (especially for brunch) once everything is situated and running smoothly.
Don’t get too discouraged if you don’t live near the locations in New York, California or Texas. It appears Macy’s in many of our major cities are undergoing renovations currently. Can’t wait to try Martha’s coffee!
