The viral video of a teenager trashing a McDonald’s in St. Paul, Minnesota, after being fired has gotten another employee in hot water.
Brandon Robertson, the manager trying to calm down the teen during his rampage, has also been fired in relation to the incident.
Robertson has been with McDonald’s for five years and worked as the overnight manager. He told WCCO his supervisors didn’t like the way he handled the incident.
“I asked him to leave, as you can see in the video. I asked him to leave. What was I supposed to do?” he asked.
Robertson said he refrained from touching the upset employee because he was under the age of 18.
“I feel like it was unfair because I did what I could. I mean, he’s 17 years old. I would be in jail as of right now if I would’ve put my hands on him. He’s a minor, so what was I supposed to do?” Robertson said.
Courtney Henry, the owner and operator of that McDonald’s location, issued a statement apologizing to those who saw the teenager’s tantrum. “While it is inappropriate to publicly discuss personnel matters, rest assured that we took the appropriate action to address the entire matter and not just what was seen on video,” the statement read.
Robertson has filed for unemployment, but he has a job interview lined up.
