Holiday beverages return to McDonald's for a limited time and they're festive as ever.
McCafe's latest lineup will include Peppermint Mocha and Peppermint Hot Chocolate, two hugely popular seasonal specialty beverages from years previous, which will reappear at participating locations nationwide starting Nov. 1.
In a Globe Newswire press release, McDonald's announced its McCafe Peppermint Mocha beverage, made with sustainably sourced espresso beans from Rainforest Alliance Certified farms. The drink is served with U.S.-sourced milk and peppermint chocolate syrup, then garnished with a whipped topping containing no artificial flavorings, colors or preservatives. And, for added measure, a generous chocolate drizzle. The perfect holiday drink for warming up in this chilly weather.
McCafe's Peppermint Hot Chocolate follows the same steps as the Peppermint Mocha, sans espresso. McDonald's freshly brewed hot chocolate has hints of mint chocolate and a subtle peppermint kick (without all those artificial flavors), and like the mocha, served with a drizzle of chocolate.
Hot Chocolate is the tried-and-true, wintertime blues cure-all. It replenishes you after a particularly grueling session of shoveling, and a dash of peppermint kicks you into first gear to get you back out there (because you haven't even quite finished unearthing your car from that iceberg of a snow pile).
McDonald's rollout of holiday drinks coincides with the chain's brand new red and white coffee cups featuring white glistening stars meant to inspire nostalgia and holiday spirit, similar to Starbucks' red cups in years previous. McDonald's not only changed up the hot beverage offerings but the makeup of its seasonal coffee cups, which are FSC-certified.
The chain announced its commitment to sustainability and announced in a press release that McDonald's anticipates sourcing 100 percent of its coffee from sustainable sources and 100 percent of its packaging from sustainable or recycled sources by the year 2020. McCafe beverages are made from 100 percent Arabica beans.
You don't have to just read about it, you can try McCafe's Peppermint Mocha and Hot Chocolate for a limited time and for $2 -- cheap, does the trick of propping you up for another winter season, and is definitely worth the trip. If not, stay where you are, you can keep the bunny slippers and onesie on -- McDonald's delivers through UberEATS.
