Maybe you've gotten a sassy photo snapped of you while drinking a beverage, but have you ever gotten one from the bottle's perspective? Now you can -- if you get your hands on the new "selfie bottle" by Coca-Cola Israel.

The classic bottle comes with a red camera fitted at the base, which automatically takes a photo when it's tilted at 70 degrees -- or the standard sip position -- according to The Drum.

Unnecessary? Yes. Gimmicky? Indubitably. But there's something whimsical about taking a selfie from such a unique angle, as well as the surprise when you plug a USB into the camera to find your photos. Will you look serene as you sip the sugary nectar on the beach, or will you look forlorn as you chug it while lying on the couch watching 2 a.m. infomercials?

The selfie bottle is the brainchild of the Gefen Team for the Coca-Cola Summer Love campaign, a large outdoor brand event in Israel. The agency encourages Coke lovers to share their selfies on social media.

"It really does the trick and makes the party goers more present and active during the event, knowing they can share their special moments just by drinking," the agency said in a statement, according to The Drum.

There are only a limited number of bottles available for Israel's novelty drink market, according to Media Post, but that isn't stopping social media users from sharing their enthusiasm for the invention.

If you think the merging of technology and food packaging is unusual, think again; early this year, Coca-Cola designed a box that can be folded into virtual reality glasses to be used with a smart phone, while KFC released a box to not only cradle your chicken but to charge your phone.

Time will tell what gimmick our technology addiction will inspire next.
