Empire Kosher Poultry announced a Class I recall on Nov. 9 on approximately 11,000 pounds of raw poultry products potentially contaminated with metal materials, according to an announcement by the USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service.

The raw chicken breasts, produced and packaged on Nov. 2, were suspected of contamination after an employee spotted a foreign object resembling metal during a routine check.

The Pennsylvania-based establishment immediately followed protocol to ensure products suspected of contamination were recovered before reaching commerce, the announcement said.

According to Good Housekeeping, the recalled items were shipped to retailers such as Acme and HEB, nationwide. The following list of products were flagged for recall:

  • 4 to 5.25-pound tray packages containing chicken breasts labeled “Empire KOSHER NATURAL Chicken Breasts, Boneless & Skinless” with case code 46375 and “Sell By” date 11/14/17.

  • 1 to 1.25-pound tray packages containing chicken breasts labeled “Empire KOSHER NATURAL Chicken Breasts, Boneless & Skinless” with case code 7488 and “Sell By” date 11/16/17.

  • 2.5-pound tray packages containing chicken breasts labeled “Empire KOSHER NATURAL Chicken Breasts, Boneless & Skinless” with case code 7598 and “Sell By” date 11/16/17.

  • 1 to 1.25-pound tray packages containing chicken breasts labeled “Empire KOSHER NATURAL Chicken Breasts, Boneless & Skinless” with case code 92615 and “Sell By” date 11/17/17.

  • 1 to 1.25-pound tray packages containing chicken breasts labeled “Empire KOSHER NATURAL Chicken Breasts, Boneless & Skinless” with case code 7888 and “Sell By” date 11/16/17.

When searching your fridge for recalled products, look for the establishment number "P-1015" located inside the USDA mark of inspection, pictured below.

There have been no confirmed reports of injury or illness due to consumption of Empire Kosher's products, but the FSIS urges anyone concerned about an injury or illness to contact a healthcare provider.
