Waffle fries are finally going to be available at McDonald's! Just in time for the holiday season, McDonald's has blessed us with something more to celebrate.
In what I would imagine as an attempt to become even more competitive with fellow fast food chains, McDonald's has introduced waffle fries to its menu in Canada. According to Brand Eating, they are a part of the Canadian holiday menu. I'm not sure how waffle fries say "holidays," but I'll take it.
How will these waffle fries compare to, say, those of Chick-fil-A? Well, as people are taking to social media to express their feelings over these new fries, BuzzFeed reports a mix of different responses. First of all, they're reported to be a bit pricier than regular fries, so there's that. But, secondly, some tasters felt that they tasted too much like hash browns …
While others gave glowing reviews:
If anyone is wondering if they should try the waffle fries at mcdonalds pic.twitter.com/GIN5uMfV6E— Lizzie Greene (@elizzgreene) November 24, 2016
I'm not sure how you can go wrong with waffle fries, but I guess it's possible. Either way, I hope to get to try them here in the States sometime!
Other additions to McDonald's of Canada's holiday menu include the Potato Rosti & Bacon Burger and Turtles Sundae with Pecans. The burger features a hash brown patty, bacon pieces, cheddar cheese and cheese sauce, all on a rolled oats bun. The sundae consists of vanilla ice cream with hot fudge sauce and mini Turtles candies, topped with chocolate and caramel drizzles. Really, it looks like this menu covers the entire meal, but it's the waffle fries that have everyone excited.
In the United States, we do have access to the peppermint mocha drink, although theirs has the crushed candy cane pieces that ours lacks. They also have a double chocolate pie and salted caramel latte. I have to admit, I'm feeling pretty jealous of Canada right about now. Their McDonald's holiday menu is really doing things right this year. Let's just hope these fun and exciting new changes can make their way over the border some point relatively soon … We'd particularly like to see those waffle fries!
