Ingredients

When you hear about a "secret menu," do you know what it means? The secret menu is made up of items that aren't available on an actual menu, but are created in our heads and specially requested upon ordering. One such item was the Chocolate Shamrock Shake, in which the bottom of the shake is chocolate and the top is mint.

According to Brand Eating, McDonald's has decided to take this secret menu item and create a whole line of actual menu items, mixing the shamrock mint flavor with classic chocolate drinks, like the frappe, hot chocolate and mocha drinks.

The fast-food chain is adding five new seasonal drinks to their menu at participating locations, so those of us who weren't in on the secret can finally partake. Check your nearest McDonald's to see if the drinks are available, but even if they aren't, you can probably make a secret menu request. The drinks are as follows:

Classic Shamrock Shake -- The Shamrock Shake we've all come to know and love already, but this time with added green sprinkles on top for a more glitzy look.

Chocolate Shamrock Shake -- Chocolate on the bottom and mint on the top, for a minty chocolate treat with a chocolate syrup drizzle to top it off.

Shamrock Chocolate Chip Frappe -- The mocha frappe blended with Shamrock Shake mint syrup and topped with whipped topping and chocolate drizzle for a nice peppermint mocha vibe.

Shamrock Hot Chocolate -- Steamed milk, chocolate syrup and Shamrock Shake syrup. Basically, mint hot chocolate.

Shamrock Mocha -- Chocolate syrup, espresso and steamed milk with Shamrock Shake syrup. Think Shamrock Chocolate Chip Frappe, only the hot version to warm you up.

Since we aren't sure at exactly which locations these new drinks are available, you can always try making your own Shamrock Shake at home. Popsugar has a pretty convincing recipe. Just blend 2 cups of vanilla bean ice cream, 1/4 cup of half-and-half, 5 drops of peppermint extract, and green food coloring for about 30 seconds. Add chocolate syrup to make it like the Chocolate Shamrock shake and top it with whipped cream, sugar crystals and a cherry for the full effect. Voila! That should hold you over until your McDonald's picks up the Shamrock drink line.
