Starbucks is getting extra unique on us for 2017, ya'll, and we think we like it!
Starting on Jan. 10, the mega-popular coffee chain will release its first new menu items of the New Year, and they are going all out for the most important meal of the day -- breakfast!
Two years ago, the Starbucks food team began the development process for these babies, so you know they're executed to perfection: participating stores in the U.S. will offer Sous Vide Egg Bites, which are essentially ultra-healthy breakfast eggs that are cooked with wholesome ingredients, and do not require extra oil or fat to achieve a yummy texture.
"People are more conscious of what they are eating," Eveline Chao-Rivera, Starbucks brand manager, said on the chain's press release. "Many are skipping out on bread and focusing on nutritious protein to fuel their increasingly busy days."
Cuisine Solutions, a company that has expertise in sous-vide cooking, teamed up with Starbucks over the course of several months to debut a product that comes in two flavors, tastes super velvety and creamy, but is also nutritious. Both of the flavors are wheat-free and packed with protein.
Bacon and Gruyere
Boasting 19 grams of protein, two bacon and Gruyere bites ring in at 310 calories and are described as follows: "Velvety cage-free eggs with aged Gruyere and Monterey Jack cheese are topped with a layer of Applewood smoked bacon."
Egg White and Roasted Red Pepper
The vegetarian version of the bites rings in at 170 calories per two-bite serving, and also comes with a generous 13 grams of protein. The website describes them as: "Cage-free egg whites with Monterey Jack and creamy cottage cheese, accentuated by spinach and fire-roasted red pepper."
Are you excited to taste these protein-filled new offerings?
