With no shortage of good ideas, Starbucks is introducing a new fall drink this year.

Of course, the Pumpkin Spice Latte is back for the thirteenth year in a row, and -- my personal favorite -- the Salted Caramel Mocha is back, too. But this year, according to Brand Eating, a new drink will be available, called the Chile Mocha.

The Chile Mocha was inspired by flavors such as mole, horchata and a Mexican drink called champurrado, all of which mix sweet and spicy flavors. Starbucks reports that the drink will have espresso and steamed milk infused with a cocoa and cinnamon powder, topped with whipped cream and finished with a sprinkle of Chile Mocha topping consisting of ancho and cayenne chile pepper, cinnamon, paprika, sugar and a touch of sea salt.

Michelle Sundquist, one member of the team who came up with the new beverage, said in a press release, “We found that the ancho chile and cayenne perfectly complemented chocolate. It has a sweet touch to it, with an approachable amount of heat.”

The drink debuted Sept. 6, and is available in Starbucks locations in the U.S. and Canada. If hot drinks are not your thing, you can try it in a Frappuccino blend as well. Additionally, some people are sensitive to coffee and/or caffeine, so you can also order it without the coffee, sort of as a spicy hot chocolate drink. Also very tasty, I’m sure.

Maybe I’ll have a new favorite drink this year. As much as I love starting my days off with a Salted Caramel Mocha, this new Chile Mocha might be just the change I need. I do love mole, after all.

Sundquist says “the first sip should be warm and chocolatey, quickly followed by the creaminess of the whip and just a kiss of sweet and savory heat all at once.” Who wouldn’t want to try that? I bet it’s perfect when the weather is turning chilly.

Thanks Starbucks! Now, about those coffee ice cubes
