Ingredients
Okay, before I get into the usual facts-sharing, can we just stop to appreciate Starbucks’ description of its new Pistachio Latte: hot espresso with steam milk laced with a rich real-pistachios sauce and drizzle with salted brown buttery goodness. Take me now.
This new creation finds its origins in Starbucks’ Reserve Roasteries, part of the Starbucks Reserve program that gave birth to a series of roasteries and cafes that offer coffee lovers a wide variety of coffee bean varieties, inspired drinks, and even a chance to peer into the roasting and brewing processes.
The Pistachio Latte is just one of several new items, both limited and permanent, that Starbucks will be adding to its lineup as this new year blesses us.
Other new, limited offerings include the Honey Almond Milk Cold Brew, crafted in response to Starbucks’ insight that cold, nondairy beverages are popular with millennials and Gen-Z-ers. As a member of the former, I can attest. Cold brews are so good I will endure the fact that caffeine spikes my anxiety. I think the honey and almond milk will help with that: either ingredient is good enough to calm the soul.
Starbucks’ dessert line is getting some love this year too, with the adorable Earth Cake Pop, with chocolate cake dipped in blue chocolate-y icing and adorned with green and white sprinkles as an ode to our lovely home, and the Red Velvet Loaf, which seems to be just as delectably extra as it sounds. Loaf. Like the two drinks before, these are limited items, so try them out when you can.
Finally, Starbucks is rounding out its permanent offerings with the Honey Almondmilk Flat White—a blonde espresso swirled with nutty almond milk and golden honey—and the Kale and Portabella Mushroom Sous Vide Bites—a soft, delicate, savory way to start your morning.
With the plethora of interesting new flavors and combinations, Starbucks is rolling out to welcome the new year. We can’t wait to see what else they have in store in the months to come.
