Here's some sweet news to hopefully help ease those Election Day nerves!
A few weeks ago, we told you about how the Brooklyn-based Ample Hills Creamery decided to hold a "Gilmore Girls"-themed ice cream flavor contest, in which fans were invited to submit flavor names and recipes for a new ice cream.
Now the results are in, and after the creamery sifted through more than 2,500 entries, it chose a winner. The new flavor is called (drumroll please)…
"They Scoop Gilmores, Don't They?"
"Coffee (of course) chocolate pudding ice cream (because Emily is trying after all) but oy, with the snickerdoodles already -- topped with pink [Pop Tart] sprinkles," is how Ample Hills describes the new flavor on its blog.
"There were so many excellent options, puns and flavor combinations that we couldn't choose just one. The winning flavor, They Scoop Gilmores, Don't They? is an amalgamation of three amazing suggestions: @pauline_beal's allusion to Emily's attempt at chocolate pudding, @ryebecca's ingenious "oy with the snickerdoodles already" and @jjjmmd's name -- a reference to a reference to a reference."
Beginning this week, you can pick up the flavor at all of the Ample Hills NYC scoop shops, and if you live outside of New York, it is available for nationwide shipping as well.
"You can order individual pints in a Choose Your Own Story 5-Pack or opt for a Gilmore Girls-themed 4-Pack Where You Lead, I Will Marshmallow (name suggested by Rebecca Phillips) that includes two pints of the winning coffee chocolate pudding flavor, 1 pint of marshmallowy goodness in the form of Snap, Mallow, Pop! ice cream and 1 pint of No Sleep Till Pumpkin ice cream -- coffee base with pumpkin ooey gooey butter cake pieces," the company promises.
And guess what? Ample Hills also promises a few more "Gilmore Girls" surprises coming our way in the next few weeks. In the meantime, eat up and stay tuned!
