Peeps are usually an Easter/spring treat. That's when we celebrate cute little chicks and bunnies. But this year, they're becoming a fall treat as well.
I’m always excited for a new reason to enjoy sweets, and Peeps, it seems, are truly delivering this year. The new flavor, which Delish reports will be rolling out Nov. 1, is cinnamon roll (video below). Peeps told only Delish about this new flavor, and it’s going to be available exclusively at Walgreens initially. So it’s not widely known news just yet.
As far as I’m concerned, that’s all the better. Now I don’t have to worry about missing my opportunity to try them due to them being sold out!
According to Delish, Peeps revealed that the new flavor will sport marshmallows "dipped in cinnamon-flecked fudge that's slightly tangy, like cream cheese frosting, adding a little crunch to the pillowy treat."
Remember last year when Peeps came out with a pumpkin spice flavor that was available exclusively at Target? Well, Bustle reports that you can order those online right now if that’s what you’d like. At least it can hold you over in the meantime while you wait for the new cinnamon flavor to become available at Walgreens.
Once they’re here, I wouldn’t hesitate to go and try them. Although an end date hasn’t been mentioned, we all know that seasonal means just that. They won’t be around forever. And just in case you need any extra motivation to try them, let’s go over all the fun and innovative ways they could be enjoyed, shall we?
For example, Delish likes to tout the Peeps Skillet S’mores dessert, where baked peeps are served over chocolate and heavy whipping cream. Yum! Then there are Peeps stuffed chocolate chip cookies and Peeps popcorn…you get the idea. Some people even like to infuse their Peeps with vodka for a pastel-colored marshmallow flavored shot. Not that I’m recommending it or anything, but I think you could come up with some pretty unusual fall themed shots using Peeps if you really wanted to.
