A group of customers at a North Carolina Waffle House worked together to chase an armed robber away from the premises.

On April 2, Fayetteville police officers responded to a report of an attempted armed robbery at a Waffle House restaurant around 5:20 am.

The suspect reportedly had an AK-47 style rifle, which he pointed at employees and customers as he demanded money, according to The Fay Observer. A customer confronted the man and put up a fight, which led several other customers to step in.

Eventually, the would-be robber fled the restaurant, and was last seen jumping a nearby fence.

Although no one was from Fayetteville restaurant was available for comment, a spokeswoman for the chain stated that officials from the organization are working with the authorities, who are still searching for the suspect.

"We are thankful that no one was hurt during this incident, especially the customers who helped prevent the robbery," said spokeswoman Kelly Thrasher-Bruner.

Police described the man as a thin black man between the ages of 18 and 25 years old, 5’8” to 5’11”, who had dreadlocks. He was wearing a yellow bandana over his face, gray pants, and a black and gray hoodie, with a red sweatshirt possibly underneath.
