Why Every Kitchen Needs an Airfryer + 2 Recipes for Healthier Fried Food

Ingredients

You may or may not of heard of the popular new kitchen tool called an Airfryer. This device uses hot air and a tiny bit of oil which circulates around the food to crisp it up without completely dredging it in fattening oils. If you’re a fan of fried foods like me, you can now enjoy the same type of food but without the guilt! Airfryers come in all different shapes and sizes, and they also range in price quite a bit.

The cheaper end of the product starts around $45.00 like this one from PINSOON which you can get here on amazon! The more expensive one go for around $125-$150 such as this Chefman model which is $129.99 or this COSORI model which costs $107.97. The main difference in these products besides the price is typically their size. The more expensive versions will have much larger capacities and more capabilities like dehydration.

If you’re a beginner to the airfryer world, the smaller, less expensive versions are definitely a great place to start learning and getting comfortable with the awesome device! You might be thinking you don’t need another kitchen appliance sitting on your already cluttered counter. But what you may not realize is how much this little device can actually do. There are very few foods that are off limits to throw in your handy dandy airfryer, which are things that have very wet batter because they will just stay soggy. But the list of things you can cook in the airfryer is much longer, including all types of vegetables, mozzarella sticks, chicken nuggets, and the list keeps going on. The other attractive quality to this product is it’s minimal clean up. Most of the different models will just have a removable basket portion that can be cleaned with soap and water, and then the rest will need to be wiped down if any food snuck out of the basket. But compared to a deep fryer, the cleaning of this will seem like a piece of cake. Overall, when weighing the options and deciding if an airfryer is for you, it’s important to question if you love fried food (who doesn’t) and learning new ways to make your current eating just a bit healthier. If you’re not totally sold on an airfryer quite yet, below are some delicious recipes that might help you make your decision easier. Happy frying!

Recipes:

Air Fryer Cinnamon Rolls

cinn-rolls-for-airfryer

Ingredients

  • 1 POUND frozen bread dough, thawed
  • ¼ CUP butter, melted and cooled
  • ¾ CUP brown sugar
  • 1½ TABLESPOONS ground cinnamon,
CREAM CHEESE GLAZE
  • 4 OUNCES cream cheese, softened
  • 2 TABLESPOONS butter, softened
  • 1¼ CUPS powdered sugar
  • ½ TEASPOON vanilla

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. 1. Pre-heat oven to 350 degree F.
  2. Let the bread dough come to room temperature on the counter. On a lightly floured surface roll the dough into a 13-inch by 11-inch rectangle. Position the rectangle so the 13-inch side is facing you. Brush the melted butter all over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border uncovered along the edge farthest away from you.
  3. Combine the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the buttered dough, keeping the 1-inch border uncovered.
  4. Roll the dough into a log starting with the edge closest to you. Roll the dough tightly, making sure to roll evenly and push out any air pockets. When you get to the uncovered edge of the dough, press the dough onto the roll to seal it together.
  5. Cut the log into 8 pieces, slicing slowly with a sawing motion so you don’t flatten the dough. Turn the slices on their sides and cover with a clean kitchen towel. Let the rolls sit in the warmest part of your kitchen for 1½ to 2 hours to rise.
  6. To make the glaze, place the cream cheese and butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Soften the mixture in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time until it is easy to stir. Gradually add the powdered sugar and stir to combine. Add the vanilla extract and whisk until smooth. Set aside.
  7. When the rolls have risen, pre-heat the air fryer to 350ºF.
  8. Transfer 4 of the rolls to the air fryer basket. Air-fry for 5 minutes. Turn the rolls over and air-fry for another 4 minutes. Repeat with the remaining 4 rolls.
  9. Let the rolls cool for a couple of minutes before glazing. Spread large dollops of cream cheese glaze on top of the warm cinnamon rolls, allowing some of the glaze to drip down the side of the rolls. Serve warm and enjoy!
