Tender hearts, rejoice! No longer will we reminisce about McDonald's fried chicken strips of yore, because they are finally making a reappearance! The "new" Buttermilk Crispy Tenders are back; this is no fever dream, it's real life.
Delish reports that McDonald's will once again serve up the popular, albeit short-lived, chicken tenders, which will be "battered and breaded to perfection and made with 100% white meat chicken, with no artificial preservatives, colors, or flavors," according to a description on McDonald's website.
In a statement with NACS, Michael Haracz, head of McDonald's said, "Our new buttermilk Crispy Tenders are another example of how we're giving customers the food they love."
The new item was tested in Alabama and North Carolina this year, and after successful feedback, McDonald's will be adding it to its menu. It will be available in four, six and 10-piece servings, but if you've been deprived all these years of tendered goodness, I say, go big.
The tenders are served with McDonald's nine signature sauces, which include Hot Mustard, Tangy Barbecue, Sweet 'N Sour, Creamy Ranch, Honey Mustard, Spicy Buffalo, Honey and Sriracha Mac. Also to be released is the tailored-made tender tag-along: McDonald's new Signature Sauce -- "an ideal balance of sweet and tangy flavors," according to Brand Eating.
McDonald's dipping sauces are a bit like prized trophies, so in keeping with its pride and joy, the restaurant chain is also celebrating the new menu item's rollout with 1,000 limited-edition collectible posters. The posters were created in partnership with Delicious Design League, and each poster celebrates the unique flavor and "style" of McDonald's signature sauces.
Delish reports that at participating locations, the posters will be given away to customers purchasing the new Buttermilk Crispy Tenders (out on October 7, so mark your calendars, people!).
If you want to nab one of these collectibles, get there early; there are only 10 posters per location. Once the posters have run out, participating locations will have limited-edition stickers available. Want to figure out which locations will have posters on hand?
