Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner, and one of the biggest draws of these holidays are the limited-edition, seasonal flavors. Embracing the annual harvest feast, Pringles is testing a "Thanksgiving Dinner" in chip form!
Pumpkin spice is just one the season's most celebrated flavors to appear in Pringles octa-flavored Thanksgiving fare. That's right, the stackable potato chip company, Pringles, released a Thanksgiving Dinner flavor collection fit for an autumn harvest feast.
Packaged and styled after a plastic '80s TV dinner tray, the Thanksgiving Dinner collection serves up eight familiar holiday flavors -- turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green bean casserole, mac and cheese, creamed corn, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie -- all served in three potato chip portions for a balanced Thanksgiving dinner course. No heat required.
The writers and editors at Foodbeast conducted their own pilot taste test to figure out which part of Pringles' Thanksgiving Dinner course was the title holder. Turns out, turkey, creamed corn and stuffing hit major high points, while pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce were missing that extra "something." The remaining flavors, mac and cheese and green bean casserole, were a hard pass.
It seems like not all flavor palates are created equal, as taste testers at Today were delighted by the decided flops (green bean casserole) and not so delighted by the hits (creamed corn).
With "stackability" in mind, Pringles put together flavor combo stacks, shown below: "The Leftover Sandwich" (turkey, stuffing, mashed potato); "The Holiday Sweater" (cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, mashed potato); "The Touchdown" (green bean casserole, mac and cheese, creamed corn).
Unfortunately, Pringles' Thanksgiving Dinner will not be available for retail this season, so we won't get a public consensus on the feast. However, a Pringles representative told Today that fans can stay tuned for future flavors! Who knows what the future will hold?
Until then, we have much to be thankful for this season: family, friends, loved ones, a hearty Thanksgiving meal and ahead of us, a whole new way of enjoying a harvest feast without hours in the kitchen and piles of dirty dishware. "Can someone pass the gravy chips, please?"
