Ingredients
- 2 pounds lean ground beef
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (12-14 ounce) tomato sauce
- 1 can (10 ounce) diced tomatoes and chilies
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground oregano
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 2 tablespoons chili powder
- 1 can (14 ounce) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 can (14 ounce) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/4 cup cornmeal
- 1/2 cup warm water
- Individual bags of Fritos
- Shredded cheddar cheese, for topping
- Sour cream, for topping
- Diced green onion, for topping
- Diced red onion, for topping
- Diced jalapeno, for topping
Instructions
Frito Chili? Well, don't mind if you!
- Add ground beef and garlic to a large pot. Brown over medium-high heat. Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes and chiles, salt, oregano, cumin and chili powder. Cover, reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Stir in beans. Cover and simmer for another 20 minutes.
- Add warm water to cornmeal. Mix until combined. Stir mixture into the chili. Cover and simmer for another 10 to 15 minutes.
- When ready to serve, slice the bags of Fritos open lengthwise. Pile in chili, cheddar cheese and all your toppings. Feel free to use other toppings you prefer.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
