Vanilla Matcha Waffles

Vanilla Matcha Waffles


  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon neutral vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 C buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon ceremonial matcha, sifted
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ⅛ sea salt
  • 1 C all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon potato starch
  • 2 Mezcla Japanese Matcha Vanilla bars, chopped
  • Strawberries, for topping
  • Figs, for topping

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the egg, oil, sugar, buttermilk and vanilla extract.
  2. Sift in the matcha powder, baking soda, baking powder and sea salt.
  3. Add in the all-purpose flour, potato starch, and Mezcla Japanese Matcha Vanilla and fold until just combined.
  4. Preheat a waffle iron to medium heat.
  5. Ladle in about 1 C of batter into the waffle iron, close it and cook for about 4-5 minutes, until lightly golden and crisp.
  6. Remove the waffle and let cool on a cooling rack.
  7. Top with strawberries and figs and enjoy!
